Grilled chicken Thai spicy salad (ยำไก่ย่าง)

 


In Thailand, if we talking about Thai style of salad. We will thinking about spicy, sweet and sour salad, called "YAM-(ยำ)" . Yes, your listening is not error. Thai style of salad dressing must compose of chili, sugar and sourness. I never found any kind of Thai style salad which without spicy, in Thailand.


I am not fan of grilled chicken, but sometimes, I cooks this kind of salad, just for my family. My salad is always load of vegetable that I likes. I know, it is unusual but for my personal favorite. Some times I substitute grilled chicken with another kind of meat such as shrimp or seafood or pork or what ever you likes. Depends on what you have in refrigerator.



Ingredients for all
 
2 chicken legs or other parts (boneless and marinated as below*)
2 spring onion (slice)
1 red onion (slice)
1/2 cup of cucumber (slice)
1/2 cup of sweet pepper (slice)
some of mint leaves and some of salad leaves for decoration (and eat !)
Thai salad dressing (*as below)
3 tbsp. vegetable oil (for grill chicken)




ingredients for marinated chicken
 
1/2 tsp. black pepper (ground)
2 clove garlic (mince)
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. soja sauce or fish sauce
1 tbsp. vegetable oil
2 tbsp. all purpose floor




ingredients for dressing
 
3 fresh chili (depend on how spicy you need)
3 tbsp. fish sauce
3 tbsp. lime juice
2 1/2 tbsp. sugar palm (melt or ground it, if it hard)




How to

first, marinate chicken for at least 30 minutes. Then, grill it in hot grill pan with coat of vegetable oil about 3 minutes for each sides.
 
During waiting times, we can prepares the dressing. Crushes all of fresh chili in mortar. then put it in mixing bowl, add the fish sauce, lime juice and sugar palm, mixed well.



When the chicken is become golden brown in the grilled pan. place it on plant and slice it in pieces.



Then, place it in mixing bowl together with dressing. Then, add all the other vegetables. mixed well.

 


served and enjoyed.



Thai people, eat Thai salad with rice. Today, I cook rice with some Thai flower, called "Anchan". This flower is nice, not only prefer nice color on rice but also a little bit mild smell.
